#TBT: Desert Mecha

This was my first unintentional speedpaint. I was getting frustrated over the multi-hour daily paintings I was doing that just weren’t turning out right. I was already exhausted, just off a painting I eventually surrendered as a failure after 5-6 hours straight. I didn’t want to go to sleep so angry so let out all the pent-up frustration into an overtime paint. No reference, no limits, no requirements. I just wanted to have fun, and paint a robot after so many mundane life images & figures. I was stunned to see how great the image turned out. It just flowed so effortlessly and came purely from imagination. After only 45min, I put the stylus down and couldn’t believe what I made. After that I began to rethink how I work, and my how my mindset affects my work. That and how much I really miss drawing robots…
