I recently helped out with an intro for one of Sabre‘s videos. The concept was to create Mario-inspired elements to accompany a video for a Nintendo-emulator build. While the task was to make some bricks and two themed backgrounds but I felt compelled to go a step further to add an animated Kuma, plus an ‘FD‘-branded coin. The Raspberry Pi Boy graphic is a call-back to the Gameboy Advance logo. Overall, I tried to the match the tone and the look of the classic NES Super Mario Bros. At the same time, I pushed the coin into the more modern, updated 3D look. The Kuma sprite design was more realistic, aiming to hit that Schipperke likeness while still retaining the simplified charm of the Nintendo series. Once I animated that strut though… I have to admit, when I hit play, I laughed out-loud.

I could watch Kuma strut all day.
